Handsome Pende mask from Democratic Republic of Congo, mbuya, sensitively rendered, the face with low forehead, slightly arched, continuous brow, slit eyes, pointy upturned nose with drilled nostrils, and carved beard with triangular designs. With raffia, fiber and burlap bonnet above. Provenance: Ex. Jack Faxon collection, Birmingham, Michigan.
