Baule Figure

Baule figure from Ivory Coast, the female standing on short muscular legs, with hands held to the front, long torso, raised navel, and pointy breasts. Facial features include narrow eyes, small pouting mouth, slender nose, and finely incised bifurcated coiffure. Scarification markings are present on chest, back, neck and face. In reddish wood.
