Dan warrior mask from Ivory Coast, Wè-Guéré-Wobé, the zoomorphic face with slit eyes, a large, wide nose, short, flattened forehead with medial ridge, and channeled mouth suggesting teeth, also with jutting, tubular projections on cheeks, tusks, and two pointy ears. Carved in wood with hair and fiber beard. Provenance: Martin Wright, NY. AHDRC object ao-0204124.
Height: 12 inches
The beard is gone in places, damage/losses to rim, cracks on left side, and other chips and imperfections.
