Salampasu mask from Democratic Republic of Congo, the face with short, bulging forehead, a short, conical nose, narrow eyes, and rectangular-shaped mouth with filed teeth. Remnants of white kaolin pigment visible along forehead, nose and mouth. Fiber net headdress still attached. Provenance: estate of Frederick Wallace, Sarasota, Florida; Ex. Alain de Monbrison, Paris, 1993; Ex. Michel Lair collection, Paris.
