Yoruba dance wand from Nigeria, Shango, with a cylindrical handle and rounded base supporting a standing female figure, the head with grooved mouth, flat, broad nose, oversized, bulging oval eyes, and scarification markings on cheeks, also with double-axe or thunderbolts atop. Fine encrusted dark brown patina on the body and indigo on top. Provenance: Ann and Michael McCormick Collection, California. Ex. Bonhams, NY (May 12th, 2011). AHDRC object ao-0104901.
