Songye Comb

A Songye hair comb from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, distinguished by an elongated, ringed neck that rises to support a sculpted head. The face is defined by a striking arrangement of geometric features: a rectangular mouth, triangular nose, and almond-shaped eyes, surmounted by a pronounced sagittal crest. Seven evenly spaced teeth extend below, completing this union of functional form and sculptural expression.
